At his historic brownstone in Brooklyn Heights, the Lamilux PR-60 was used to not only provide abundant daylight, but also to increase the head room and therefore the useful floor area in this loft space. Since this building is designated by LPC as a landmark, the design team was not permitted to raise the roof. Utilizing a PR-60 glass roof and several FE Passivhaus skylights at the existing roof increased the ceiling height above several high-use locations, allowing the loft to be a fully functional space.
The PR-60 glass roof and FE Passivhaus skylights allowed the design team to achieve their vision for this brownstone without compromising performance. In fact, the Lamilux skylights, which include triple layer glazing and a thermally broken assembly, were a critical element in this high performance envelope, which went on to achieve Enerphit Certification
